What is immutability in ReactJS?

Immutable classes are Java classes whose objects cannot be modified once created. Any alteration in the Immutable object returns a new object. For example, String is immutable in Java.
If you define a string like this:
var str = ‘ABC’;
You cannot change the character of the string directly.
