A base address is a unique location in primary storage (or primary memory) that works as a reference point for other memory locations called absolute addresses.
So as to acquire an absolute address, particular displacement value is added to the base address.
For instance, a base address may demonstrate the beginning of a program loaded into primary storage. The absolute address of every particular program instruction could be defined by adding a displacement to the base address.
